Art Classes & Drawing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Minimum age for this class is 15. There is nothing more inspiring than studying the masterpieces at the Met. This is an instructed three-hour class taught by Tatyana Zhurkov . Each session begins with a short introduction to a specific period or art genre. Afterwords each student, as advised by the instructor, chooses an object or painting that he wants to sketch from. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, sketching from the Old Masters will open a window into the great mind of a genious. Individual critiques covering the basics of drawing such as proportions, value, construction and perspective will be offered. Class size is limited to 12 students. Fridays 5.45

Art Classes & Drawing at the American Museum of Natural History Ages 7 - 11. This class is for younger students. The Museum of Natural History is one of the most exciting educational resources when it comes to children. Children's creativity peaks when they are inspired by this museum's artifacts. This is a two hour sketching class preceded by a short lecture on a specific theme. Subject matter can include animals, both living and pre-historic, plants, gems and etc. Fundamentals of drawing will also be discussed and drawing skills perfected. Sundays 11

Tatyana Zhurkov is a Bridgeview instructor who teaches Art Museum courses. Tatyana received her training as a classical sculptor from the Rerich College of Art in St. Petersburg, Russia. She continued her training in theater and set design at the Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, also in St. Petersburg. When she came to America, she received additional training in Fashion Design from Parson's School of Design in New York. Tatyana Zhurkov is a recepient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation's Award. In 2001, she had a solo exhibit at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. Zhurkov's work is included in major museum collections: Renwick Gallery of
the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian
Institution, Washington DC Materials. Sharpened pencils HB, B or 2B, eraser. Color pencils are optional. Drawing pad or separate paper sheets with a clip board. Paper size no larger than 12 x 17. Museum fees. Both museums have pay as you wish prices. Ticket prices are not included in tuition fees Withdrawal policy. Students can withdraw before the first day of class by notifying the school by telephone, e-mail or in person. Full refund will be provided. Students can withdraw after the first day of class, in which case they lose 1/3 of tuition. Also, Bridgeview has the right to expel children who are disruptive to the class. In such case, we will return the unused portion of tuition minus $50 fee. |
