Education

1954 - 1959 MFA in Decorative Arts and Sculpture from the Stroganov Institute of Fine Arts and Design, Moscow, Russia

Awards

1986 - "Glass Tower"Project Competition, Tokyo, Japan. Award of Distinction

1982 - Award of Excellence. Competition to build a monument to poet and singer Vladimir Vysotsky, Moscow, Russia

1978 - Decorative Sculpture Competition to design the exterior of the Moscow Museum of Musical Culture, Moscow, Russia. Award of Excellence.

1976 - Medal Design Competition, Paris, France. Award of Distinction

In the United States, Leonid Brener was one of the co-creators of St. Francis of Assissi sculpture on the facade of St. Francis Church on Houston Street in Soho, New York. He has completed a number of commissions for private clients. His portrait of Pushkin is in the collection of the Russian Cultural Center of the Russian Embassy in Washington DC.

He has taught Drawing, Sculpture and Painting in various academies including Art Students League of New York, Sculpture Center, New York, New York Studio School, New York Educational Alliance.
