Dear Students, Teachers and Friends,
Some of you may remember the early days of Bridgeview, in the aftermath of 9/11, when our student body consisted of 12 adults and 2 kids. Now we have 200 students. Our students have exhibited at the Chelsea Art Museum, K-Place Gallery, Asian Cultural Center, ConEdison Learning Center and other venues. Many have been accepted to art colleges on generous scholarships (Art Institute of Boston, SVA, Pratt, FIT, Parson's, New York Academy of Figurative Art, PAFA, California Art Institute, just to name a few).
Every year our many of our 8th graders are accepted into LaGuardia, Frank Sinatra, Art and Design High Schools.
We also now expanded our program to offer a one-week Art Camp in France.
Two of our alumni Ilya Mirochnik and Jim Sondow have graduated from the Repin Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg, Russia. Repin Academy is the only remaining classical academy in the world today. In the last 20 years, only 5 Americans have been accepted to study there, two of them came from Bridgeview.
Our mission remains the same. We are grounded in the classical tradition when it comes to art training. We want to keep the school small and focus on those who are serious about becoming better artists regardless whether they become professional or hobbyists.
Special thanks go to my husband John Murray and all of Bridgeview teachers.
~Lena Murray, Bridgeview founder and director.
