College Portfolio/Art for Teens. Drawing and Painting from Observation. Focus on the human form. Developing personal style.

Minimum age is 13.

Saturday Class. Mostly Drawing.

During this 12 weeks course which should be continued by a student through more than one semester, students will focus on accurately representing the form on paper mastering a variety of media like penil, charcoal, pen and ink and possibly watercolor. Students will progress from still life to the human form (portrait, self-portrait and male and female nude figure). While learning the fundamental principles of art such as perspective, proportions, light and shade, students are encouraged to make the work expressive and personal, so that it fully reflects their unique artistic individuality. Each class will include a short art history lecture. Please note, that partially clothed models are used in this class, parental conscent is required.

Sunday Class. Mostly Painting.

Sunday class, taught in a similar fashion as the Saturday one will focus on oil painting techniques. Progression will be from still life to portrait to figure. However, if you are new to Bridgeview, you should first take the Saturday Drawing class to prepare yourself better for Painting. Or, you can take both classes during the same semester.

For both Saturday and Sunday classes, time permitting, visits to studios of practicing artists and field trips to Museums will also be arranged in addition to working in class.

As an additional benefit for students, Bridgeview invites college admissions councilors who talk about their colleges and also review students' portfolios.

$450 (Fall/Winter/Spring)
