Founded by classically-trained artists, Bridgeview School of Fine Arts, New York, offers a unique program in traditional Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.

This program is based on the centuries-old techniques developed by generations of European masters. These techniques were painstakingly preserved in Russia through the 20th century while they were much forgotten in the west and replaced with non-objective art. Almost everyone of Bridgeview teachers can trace his or her lineage directly to one of the greatest 19th century artists.

The school founders are contemporary artists, who live and work in America. Their academic training has helped them to find their own voice, that is why they consider classical training the best environment for learning. Located in Long Island City (Queens) just across the river from Manhattan, Bridgeview is in the midst of cultural renewal. Its neighbors include PS 1 Contemporary Art Center, the Noguchi Museum, and the Sculpture Center, just to name a few. Bridgeview is only one subway stop from Manhattan

"I know what rigorous training there was at the Russian academies and I applaud your efforts to bring it to America". Greg Hedberg. Director of European Art at Hirshl and Adler Gallery, New York and former Director of the New York Academy of Art.

Attention! Drawing at the Metropolitan Museum. This class is for adults, but students ages 13 and up are also welcome to join. There is nothing more inspiring than studying the masterpieces at the Met. This is an instructed class taught by Tatyana Zhurkov who will provide step by step guidance and critiques to the students. Tatyana Zhurkov's own work is included in the collections of many world-famous museums including the Smithsonian in Washington DC and the Hermitage in Russia. The class will meet 8 consecurive Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. at the museum. Tuition $190. Begins September 24.
